Truth - it took me awhile to understand and appreciate pilates. Now, I believe EVERY BODY should practice pilates. Pilates helps one develop flexibility and core strength (my own personal weaknesses). It also improves posture and who doesn't need that these days? We are all hunched over on our computers and phones. The benefits are endless! What do you love about pilates?

I just recently renewed my ACSM Certification. I’m super paranoid and retentive that I never lose this certificate since it took me hours of studying to earn it. What many of you don’t know is that most personal trainers need to renew their certifications every 2-3 years depending on the organization. In order to do that, we need to complete several hours of education (45 hours for ACSM). The hours of education need to be applicable to our certificate The bottom line, we keep learning and growing so that we have more to offer our clients. While some trainers may not think it is important to keep their certificates up-to-date, I personally take pride in renewing my certificate every three years. There are exceptions to this rule, such as in yoga or pilates - for many of those certifications, we receive training, teach and then certify.

I grew up with Boxers and have had only Boxers my adult life. I love all dogs but I can't help but love the Boxer smushy nose. This is Kal, she's eleven year old and looks amazing! Did you know that petting your dog can trigger the release of the bonding hormone oxytocin. Touching their fur can also lower your heart rate and blood pressure. . . . got to run and find Kal for some sloppy kisses!

3 Tips to implement Today!

✅Chose an achievable fitness goal. Start small - such as a 20 minute walk. Don't set yourself up for failure by implementing 45 minute workouts every day.
✅Don't overwhelm yourself by an "all or nothing" approach. For instance, maybe add more vegetables into your dinner or try a new fruit every week.
✅Find time for quiet every day. We are overstimulated as a society. Put the phone down and sit quietly for 5 minutes. I know - some of you are challenged by this! I know who you are!! But you can do this!

Don't expect change to happen overnight but change can happen by taking that first step!

2021 has begun! I'm not a big fan of New Years Resolutions but I do believe it is important to take a closer look at what is no longer serving you and what is. Basically, cleaning out the clutter and noise. Whether it be a closet or taking a closer look at how you distribute your time. Who you allow to suck up your time and those that bring value to it. Same goes for new fitness goals. Are you capable of turning on a workout video and doing it yourself or do you need someone such as myself to provide accountability? That is one of the best services of having a Personal Trainer! I stay on top of my clients, checking in on them and providing them with the tools to succeed. Do you need a personal trainer in 2021? Think about it - could you use a gentle push? If so, I'm your girl!

It was the first day of the ski season for myself and the hubby today. I love skiing because you get to move your body in the great outdoors! Exercise should be fun, not a chore.

I started Fit Impressions eight years ago. I started my business by traveling to client's homes to train them because I didn't have a space. I also held numerous Boot Camp programs in the park. I grew from there leasing a 100 sq foot room and teaching various places. I also incorporated pilates into my practice which I stumbled into by shear accident. It's amazing how much can change in a short amount of time. I've now been in my new studio for almost two years. It feels like "home" with great big windows with pine trees for a view (except for that one window which looks out onto the dumpster, eek!).
So what does Fit Impressions offer? It offers training for EVERY body! Yes, I work with all ages, all sizes and all different fitness goals. I offer support, guidance and undivided attention. I am. not an athlete at heart so there is no judgment here when it comes to strength, coordination or just that nagging feeling of awkwardness. I'm familiar with it - it followed me through grade school in gym class every week and dance class into HS (can we say "back row"). If you are looking to become stronger and more confident in your skin and you don't like big box gyms or trainers screaming at you, I may be a good fit for you. With me, we may train one day lifting 12 pound weights and another day on the Pilates Reformer. I try to keep it fresh and new to keep your body guessing and you from getting bored. Fitness should not be hard and moving your body should be a joy,
